Books in European Libraries

Books in European libraries last longer than books in libraries in the United
States because, although the climate in Europe is fairly humid, libraries there are not subjected to the extremes of temperature and humidity that damage collections in the United States.

E.. D is wrong because of two things

1) but still.. but is enough
2) subjected to.. not subject of

that's my opinion though.

@umaa, Each although and but is used seperately and individually to show contrast in a sentence.
Well in my short stint with the SC, I havent seen both of them in one sentence, just my observation though, can be wrong.
Others thoughts??

A is incorrect as it includes the adjective form "extremes" when a noun form "extremities" is preferred. The stress is on the extreme nature of the climate not on merely the climate.

I think the sentence compares the libraries in Europe to the libraries in Unite States, therefore the sentence needs as those that

This eliminates A,C and D. Now between B and E, I'd rather pick B ....

Can someone explain why E is better than B? or what's wrong with B?
