Yale Silver Scholars Programs

by Sunshinesmilemba » Mon Dec 26, 2011 9:27 am
Hi All,

I was applying to Yale Silver Scholars Program and was wondering if anyone had any information about the academic recommendation. What is the admission committee looking to evaluate from a professors recommendation. What if the professor doesn't know a lot about the student?

Well, obviously the idea would be to choose a professor who DOES know a lot about you.
The IDEAL professor is:
1. One who knows you well
2. And is well known
3. and if possible who mentored you, who you taught under, or researched for.

That way they will have the most "MEAT" to write in your rec.

Hi,

Well, the length of the time they have known is crucial when choosing recommenders. The reason being a business school wants to hear a complete picture of the applicant from someone who knows you well and has been in a position to evaluate you. They want the data provided by you in the essays to be validated and take an objective assessment of your abilities.

Has anyone from silver scholars been invited to interview yet?
