Which construction should we use and why?
People using ABC and
People who use ABC have two different meanings.
The book sitting on this table is my favorite.
Why the -ing word
sitting? Because the book is performing the continuous action of
sitting on the table right now.
People who use conditioner have shinier hair than those who don't.
Why
who use instead of
using? Because the people are not continously using conditioner right now. They are people
who use conditioner on a regular basis.
Most of the time the GMAT will be aiming for the second meaning. A word of advice:
Avoid words that end in -ing. If you're stuck between two answers, and one uses a word that ends in -ing, pick the other answer choice.
