Q: Each of the students is a certain class received a single grade of P, F, or I. What percent of the students in the class were females?

(1) Of those who received a P, 40 percent were females.
(2) of those who received either an F or I, 80 percent were males.

OA: E

Please can some one explain?

(1) only gives us the info about the people with grade P but not about F or I; NOT sufficient.

(2) does not give any info on people with grade P; NOT sufficient.

Combining (1) and (2), we still don't know the ratio of students who got grade P to the students who got grade F or I; NOT sufficient.

The correct answer is E.
