here take statements alone u'll not get any thing about the other variable that is left in the conditions of each statements individually.
but is u take both the statements and then add them u'll get that it is even . hence suff.
thus C is the right answer.

Ques is is x+y+2z = even?

From 1st x+z = even ,we get nothing.So insuff.

From 2nd y+ z = even,we get nothing.So insuff.

Taking both together we get,

x+z= even & y+z =even

hence x+z+y+z = even
= x+y+2z = even.

So C is the answer!!!
