The statistical range is the difference between the lowest and highest valued numbers in a set of numbers.
Therefore the highest number in the set is 112 and the lowest is 45 so that would yield a difference of 67. Now it says that Mr S. will sell 20 shares of stock x and buy 24 of stock y putting the new stock values at 36 for x and 118 for y.

difference of new high and low 82
original high and low 67

New range 15 what is the answer?

Old range is 112-45=67

new range after buying and sellign wit hx and y =118-36=82

so increase in range=82-67=15 is the answer
