MBA Admissions Research Is Now Easy With MBA Watch

by , Jul 19, 2011

What differentiates an MBA admit from an MBA reject? Often, the answer is information. Admitted students tend to research their target MBA programs exhaustively and use the information they have collected to make a strong case for their candidacy.

The challenge, however, is that performing research on a business school is tough. There is a lot of information available online, but quality sources are difficult to findand helpful nuggets of information tend to be dispersed across many sites.

Today, we have eliminated the applicants pain of gathering high-quality information on business schools through MBA Watch.

Key Features

Live Stream. MBA applicants can now go to just one place, MBA Watch, to review a consolidated stream of the best information available about each business school. MBA Watch features a dedicated stream for each business school, where high-quality news and information is published onto the stream from many sources in real time. Moreover, the Beat The GMAT community can also submit news/information/events into a schools stream to share and discuss with other members.

For example, instead of separately tracking a schools Facebook wall, a student blog, an admissions committee YouTube channel, and a twitter account from the Deanyou can now view all updates from those sources in just one single, interact-able stream. All organized by school!

Current Applicant Stats. MBA applicants are always trying to find information to size up themselves vis--vis their competition. Now, doing so is possible with MBA Watch. MBA Watch features a reporting area for each school, where the key applicant elements for each applicant applying for a school are consolidated into helpful statistics.

When a Beat The GMAT member indicates that she is applying to a specific school, her information becomes aggregated with that schools Current Applicant Stats section, along with other members applying.

MBA applicants will now be able to review their competition at a granular detail never seen before. For example: through MBA Watch, it will be simple to see how many Harvard applicants are applying Round 2, with consulting backgrounds, from Romania.

Whos behind MBA Watch?

MBA Watch is the most sophisticated product ever released by the Beat The GMAT. In order to build this incredible feature, it took an incredible team. Our own Beat The GMAT community managers actually helped to design and implement MBA Watch.

Some folks we want to recognize:

  • Dave Mateer Came up with the original concept and requirements for MBA Watch. He was the first product manager on this project.
  • Richard Battle-Baxter Helped to lead product management and design guidance on MBA Watch.
  • Laura Sumayah Houston Provided research and user experience guidance.
  • Ezhilkumaran Kesavaraj Provided research and user experience guidance.
  • Dana Jinaru Provided research and user experience guidance.

A big thank you to these Beat The GMAT community leaders! Without their collaboration, this product would not be possible.

Summary

MBA Watch is a one-stop shop for all MBA applicants seeking a simple and useful consolidation of information and statistics about each school. Applicants will no longer have to hunt for bits of information scattered on the web when doing research on schools. The Beat The GMAT team hopes that this new feature will save applicants lots of time, allowing them more time to focus on their application.

We think that MBA Watch will fundamentally change how MBA applicants research their target business schools.

And the best part: MBA Watch is completely free.
