Thanks for the invite to this forum. I will give a quick background for those of you who may not be aware of Texas Tech. TTU is located in Lubbock, TX that would be the western part of the state. A nice college town with a population of around 300,000. TT is probably most well known for its crazy football coach, Mike Leach for those of you who follow college football and Bobby Knight coached here after he left Indiana. Texas Tech is part of the Big XII.

On an academic level TT is definitely making strides they just broke ground on a new business school for the Rawls College of Business expected to be done in Spring 2011. The university is on the verge of getting Tier I status so that should definitely help the reputation over the next few years.

I would say being a part of something that has a chance to really take off in the next five years. I didn't have the necessary credentials or resources to attend an Ivy League school like I would have hoped, but knowing there is a program out there that is trying to reach the top is exciting and am glad to be apart of that.

I know alot of my classmates went over to Europe to as a huge group and did some whitewater rafting and backpacking through Europe as one of the other students on this forum talked about in their experience highlights.

Also many CEOs visit to do what is called the Chief Executive Roundtable where they come in for a visit to Lubbock and speak with many of the students and Lubbock professional community. Some past speakers have included:

Recruiting has been fairly tough considering the state of the economy. The only people who seem to be optimistic are the ones with accounting and financial backgrounds. I have an accounting background in tax so I was in a lot better position than others. Just wanted to post an update about what is going on with Texas Tech:

Texas Tech and Pac 10 merger:

If you pay any attention to sports you know the Big XII will soon dissolve and a portion of those universities will merge with the Pac 10. Those schools include Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Colorado, and possibly Texas A & M.

Texas Tech will join some of the most respected MBA programs in the nation (Stanford, Cal, UCLA, and USC) to go along with the great programs it was associated with in the Big XII. Texas Tech will soon reach Tier 1 status to be a a major research university for Texas. It is definitely an exciting time to be a Texas Tech alum. In terms of placement a great number of my classmates received job offers due to a healthy Texas economy, and those who chose to leave Texas landed job offers as well.

Here everyone I wanted to give an update about what's going on at Texas Tech. There are great things going on. We just opened our new business building, and it is awesome. Anyone looking for a great career after graduating without going overboard on debt I highly recommend it. My classmates all found jobs after graduating in great locations. For example Austin, Dallas, and Houston in great fields such as oil and gas, consulting, and banking.
