I plan to apply to the University of Minnesota - Carlson School of Management PT MBA program. This school is somewhat competitive, but not necessarily a top MBA program. I work in human resources consulting for a Fortune 50 company, and I am about to complete my BS in Human Resources Management (December 2009). In total, I have about 5 years of FT work experience, but I was able to take my career a fair distance without a bachelor's degree, so it may be fair to say that I was a late academic bloomer
I have taken many relevant business courses to include: principles of accounting 1 and 2, intro to MIS, macro and micro economics, applied statistics, and managerial finance. I earned an "A" in all of my business coursework, and I currently have a 3.85 GPA at a university that is reputable in my area. On Princeton Review's practice GMAT, my baseline (pre-study) was 630, which I am working on improving. It looks like the median GMAT at Carlson is about 650, so I am pretty close.
Here is the deal: By the time I complete my bachelor's degree, I would have earned the whole thing from start to finish in only 23 months. I know this sort of sounds crazy, but I did it by taking 20-ish credits every semester and using CLEP to earn about 30 LL credits for my general eds. Do you think this will totally destroy my chances of being accepted to the Carlson School of Management?
