Stern Tepper Tuck & Fisher

by duh2008 » Thu Jan 10, 2008 11:41 am
I've applied Stern Tepper Tuck & Fisher

Stats: 3.2 gpa/ 510 GMAT: 4.5 AWA/ 0 WE/
My essays for the schools I have applied to had typos in them (yea, loser, I kno).

Wrote an optional essay focusing on my quant abilities. A's in econ courses, financial analyst intern at large notable company.

I have decide to go at the GMAT again. Like most everything concerning school, I didn't put my best foot forward. Studied for 2 weeks for the GMAT (no verbal studying). 16th percentile quant/ 75th percentile verbal. I know I can do better on both sides.

I'm just going to focus on the quant again, with more purpose. Aiming for 700+ (ambitious I am). Taking it to make 3rd rounds at WHARTON poss HSB.

Graduating May, going to SOMEONES MBA program.

I know what I want to do once I earn my MBA (noted in all my essays).

Advice please...

Welcome to the forums, duh2008! :)

The typos you mentioned in your post above are not the typos but are some serious errors. 'Loser' is not a typo nor is an incorrect spelling if used in right context.
I am sorry but I couldn't find a particular query or question/concern in your post which experts can address. I would read few threads present in this sub-forum with similar case/situation along with the sticky ones.

Would you elaborate a bit?

btw, I have made your post separate from the sticky. Lets keep specific problems/cases with separate threads and general query at sticky 8)

Lol. "Yea, Loser, I kno" are not the typos I made in my essays. I was calling myself a loser (i kno, bad) for submitting essays with typos in them. I type how I write, and I usually interject off bar comments while talking. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I'm weird (I kno)

I actualy needed help talkin about addressing low quant scores without making excuses, I think I did pretty well, minus the typos in my optional essays based on what I've been reading on this site.

I'm just going to take the GMAT again and Proof read my current essays for 3rd rounds at other schools. Though I'm seeking financial aid : /

Hi duh2008,

When there is a question about your quant abilities because of your GPA or GMAT, it is definitely a good idea to write an optional essay about quant skills you have demonstrated in school or work. Honestly it sounds like your essay took the right approach.

Good luck!

You will probably have to retake the GMAT.
