Hey! Well if you want a more precise answer you should tell us a bit about what you are looking for in terms of location, type of program, etc.
But anyhow a good place to start is with your GMAT. Have a look at the rankings, and apply to schools in which your GMAT falls within their range.
Some examples for you:
Georgia Tech, Boston College, Tippie, Babcock, Michigan State...

There are a LOT of schools out there, so it's good to think a little bit about where you want to go (i.e. location), what you want from the school (big or small? general management oriented? case study or action learning?) etc.

Thanks for the quick reply and suggesting some colleges.
I am basically targeting at US and UK colleges. My main interest is in Full Time MBA program in Finance. Also I am interested in case study method.
Is there a minor possibility for me to get into top ranked colleges? I was thinking to apply to Wharton. Is it a bit ambitious for me to apply there?

Also I have heard that in UK, students are not getting work permit after completing their degree. So I'm confused whether to apply to UK colleges.

Thanks.

Wharton (& other top ranked schools) will be a real stretch going by the limited information that you have provided. As it is, you are from a very competitive pool. With your GMAT & work experience being on the lower side, you really need a differentiating factor.

As a general trend, the market is becoming very tough for career changers & international students (work permit issues). To me, the most crucial point is how you justify why MBA/why Finance after 2 years in software industry. Along with your ambitions, you would need to show what other steps you took to learn more about the Finance industry.

By all means, apply to a couple of top ranked schools but manage your risk by also applying to schools which are more in line with your profile.

Good Luck!

Well, unfortunately unless you have some crazy amazing leadership or entrepreneurial experience or are the son of a President or celeb, Wharton is pretty much out of the question, as are most of the top 10 schools. GMATs are going up, and the averages are hovering around 720-725, so unless you have either a ridiculously strong profile or at LEAST a 690, the going will be tough to impossible. Better to keep your goals realistic.

@ Color me One: The software company which I am working in basically develops softwares for banks. Also in my family most of them have a keen interest in stock market and they regularly follow it . So I am pretty much interested in finance. And I am also trying to learn the different technicalities involved in the financial market. So I am choosing finance as a field for my Masters.

After reading your replies I think there is no chance of getting top ranked colleges. Then can you please suggest which good colleges having finance as their strength should I apply to?

Well, the schools I mentioned above are good starts. Also have a look at Baruch. It's an interesting school - s in New York city, one of the best accounting programs in the US, and does offer a lot of amazing job opportunities. Baruch's MBA Program also topped US News & World Report's 2010 "MBA With Most Financial Value at Graduation" ranking.

I have actually seen some people leveraging this Financial software experience to find a good opening post MBA. Though, in many cases they first shifted to the software division of the bank itself & then tried moving to the core profile. Either way, it is difficult but definitely can be done.

One of the ways (as said above) is to put more emphasis on location. Schools in New York, London, Hong Kong would generally have decent connections with the finance industry, even if they are ranked lower down. Further, during your MBA you would have a lot of opportunities to network with the bigwigs.

I don't know how strong your leadership/EC profile is but it might be worthwhile to take a look at European schools like IE/IESE.

Lastly, my aim was not to discourage you from applying to top schools. It was to point out that the current profile as listed by you is not showing special ingredients. And that you need to really define what makes you different before filling any applications.
As always, I would advise you to apply to atleast some schools in the first round.

Good Luck!

Thanks for your reply.
I have worked for an NGO named Rotaract Club subsidiary of the Rotary Club for two years. There we used to work for the deprived people, educating them, organizing games for them etc. I also used to organize a number of college trips.
My short term goal is to work as an investment adviser in a bank for say 5 years and then having my own business in mutual funds.
I'll definitely apply to the colleges suggested by you. Also I wanted to know whether University of Notre Dame-Mendoza and Cornell University have good finance programs and whether I have any chances of getting them.
Any other suggestions provided will be very helpful.
Thanks.
