Hi,

I have a GMAT score of 650 (quants 47 + Verbal 33)

Besides this I have a work exp of almost 3 years in Asia's largest IT Services firm.(Diverse work responsibilities from Technical Product development responsibilities to Business Analysis and currently into Pre Sales Consulting)
I am an engineering graduate(Chemical Engg) from a top university of India. GPA: 3.1
Decent academics thoughout. I think I have decent recos and have given decent amount of time writing my essays.

I am looking to make a career switch to MBA/MS in Finance.

Will someone please advise on which US/CANADA/SINGAPORE B-Schools I should apply to, so that I stand a fair chance of getting an admit. There are other limitations also such as cost constraints but for now, I need to know which B Schools I should apply to in the USA/CANADA/SINGAPORE (the job scenario in these countries should be good for international students !! rt? ) ??

Well, researching on what school you want to go to is something you need to do yourself.

Go through all the top rankings to see where you fit in terms of your GMAT and the school's strength in your particular chosen field. it is a tedious process but something you need to do yourself.

Choose about 6 schools to apply to in round 1.

One piece of advice though. Do not use the ranking number as a way to select or drop schools. They should just indicate to you what the business world perceives about a college.

Hey Vineet,

Thanks for your inputs. I understand the rankings can be an important criterion. However, I needed more direct and candid inputs based on the opinions of BTG memebers who have gone/are going though the application process. These questions- I am sure- won't be new to people who have seen the tedious processes involved. This would give me a clear picture as to what should be the places I need to look at seriously.

There is an India specific forum at pagalguy.com. You should browse there. It is different from BTG as BTG is global, but it will give you direct help with each school, interviews and what kinda people got in from India (I mean profiles).

I agree with our friend Vineet above about doing research yourself. There are so many things to take into consideration including program, location etc. But a good place to start is going through say for example the US News and World Report rankings, going down the list looking at "mean GMAT scores" and when you hit schools that have average GMATs of 620-650 those are your target schools. Then you can add one or two schools over (if you have a dream of a school you like) and one or two schools under (the so-called "safety schools").

It's a pretty rough estimate but if you just look at your chances, it's a good place to start
