Is TOEFL or GRE required along with GMAT to do my MBA in US.

Hi,

I want to do my MBA in the US or UK and I have a question regarding admission process. During my preparation for GMAT, I got to know that I should take TOEFL or GRE along with GMAT because I am from India. But I did my schooling in english. Now, Is it mandatory to take TOEFL or GRE along with my GMAT.

Can you please help me out.

These test requirements are confusing - let's try and map it out for you.

Most US and many UK schools will accept EITHER the GMAT OR the GRE - you never need to submit both scores to a single school. Both of these tests cover verbal, quant, and writing. The GMAT is the standard test for bschools (the GRE is the standard test for other types of Master's programs). We recommend taking the GMAT, and not worrying about the GRE. If, for some reason, you've already taken the GRE, then at many schools you can use that instead. But if you're just starting out, go with the GMAT as a test that's more widely accepted by MBA programs.

The TOEFL tests for English language proficiency. Many schools will waive the TOEFL requirement for those with an Indian undergrad education - but not all schools will. Notably, in the U.S., UC-Berkeley and Columbia still require a TOEFL exam for Indian applicants. You will need to check each school's requirements carefully. The good news is that if you do well on the GMAT verbal sections, you should easily do well on the TOEFL with little preparation.

Dont rely on last years info Toefl requirements for a particular college.

Simply send them a mail.

Do this beforehand.

This doesn't make any sense. All graduate schools list their CURRENT requirements on their websites. To email them asking questions about what is clearly listed on their website makes it look like the candidate is helpless or can't follow simple directions.

EssaySnark most definitely does not recommend that candidates do this.

Hi

This has happened with many applicants and they had to take immediate dates. The reason for that is unclarity in the mind of colleges with respect to the proficiency in English Language with a particular degree.At second there are applicants who dont have the standard (engineering,medic)graduation degree (they may be graduate in their country with English as a medium of langauge) but that may not be acknowledged.

I understand that throughmba/essaysnark or me or anybody may not recommend it considering it is not stated on the website. But a few things are beyond that.

I always suggest applicants to ask like dklvcm.mtech has asked(from us and the bschools). They are ready to help.

Maybe EssaySnark's English skills are just not up to snuff, but we really don't know what you're saying, dude.

We will reiterate: All the top bschools lay out requirements on their websites for who needs to submit a TOEFL score.

It is not recommended to contact the schools for answers to basic questions.

Bschools are interested in admitting leaders. If someone can't even navigate the instructions to applying, what message is that sending about his or her readiness for bschool?

EssaySnark is not interested in getting in a p!ssing match with another consultant, we're just trying to help candidates put their best foot (feet?) forward, and we really cannot stand misinformation being parlayed about.

You are perfectly alright. I have faced this situation.
Always rubbish any rumor or quotation and ask the college.(During visit, by mail or call them).
