I have GMAT score 680 [V31, Q50] AWA 4, IR 7.

Will this score give me positive indication of admission?

Is AWA problematic?

I have 10 - 11 years of IT experience.

Is more work experience also problematic?

I think that would depend. Each school has its own process that it goes through when evaluating applicants. Which schools are you targeting?

Hi gmat_abcd,

Your GMAT score is strong enough for you to comfortably apply to any US Business School, so you don't have anything to worry about in this area. The application process is typically 6-7 pieces (sometimes there's an interview, sometimes there's not). When applying to a competitive program, it's important that each piece of the application be as strong as possible. Both your GMAT score and work experience seem fine, so you should look at your overall application and assess the entire package. For more specific advice, you might consider working with an Admissions Expert.

A score of 680 is good enough to get you into some schools in the top 20. Your AWA score will not be an issue. Having more experience can be a problem in terms of your age.Many schools give less preference to applicants in their 30's. But there are a lot of factors which can affect your admission. In addition to the GMAT score and work experience, your undergraduate GPA and extra-curriculars are important when applying to business schools. You will then need to create a stellar application to impress the admissions committee. The most important thing you need is a post-mba goal. Business schools give a lot of weightage to this.
