560 GMAT

by fido_dido » Tue Sep 09, 2008 7:22 pm
Hi,

I live in the bay area, CA. With a GMAT score of 560 (Q44 v24), I am wondering if I stand a chance to get admitted to some B-schools in the bay area such as Santa clara university, San jose state university. I have an undergrad GPA of 3.2 and about 7 years full time work experience in the field of telecommunications software design. My passion is in business development & investment management and my extra curricular activities are completely in managing money (for myself and my friends). Do let me know your comments adn suggestions.

Thanks.

Dear fido_dido,

If your GMAT score is within the mid-50% range for those schools, then you have a shot at being admitted there. If you are outside that range, but in the mid-80% range, then it is still possible but the rest of your application (essays, resume, interview, recommendations) should make a compelling case for your admission. If your GMAT is below the mid-80% range, then you might consider retaking the exam to increase your score. While it's not impossible to be admitted with a GMAT below the mid-80% range, it is quite difficult and the rest of your application will need to be stellar.

Good luck,
Lisa
