with protecting or in protecting

"Court-appointed lawyers are more interested in helping the prosecutors move the trial along than with protecting a defendant's rights"

Above sentence is from New York times. I think after 'Than' 'in' would be more appropriate.
Correct me if I am wrong.

You are right, this is probably a misprint. There should be "in."
