If x>y^2>z^4, Which of the following statements could be true?

I have attached the complete problem.

I agree with statement 1 and 3. But how statement 2? The answer is E.

Can someone please explain

This is a tricky one...
i took mroe than 2 min. to solve it..

However...for 2nd and 3rd choice consideration we can take the example of fractions.Because when a fraction is squared or multiplied to the power its value decreases.

take the examples of x=1/4; y=1/3 and z=1/2

so 1/4>1/9>1/16 (x>y^2>z^4)

and 1/2>1/3>1/4 (z>y>x)

I think it is possible if z=0, y is negative and x positive
