A recipe contains ingredients turmeric, pepper and saffron in a ratio of 5mg to 6mg to 2mg. If the recipe requires 39 milligrams of these ingredients, the recipe has how many more milligrams of pepper than milligrams of saffron?

A) 4
B) 6
C) 9
D) 12
E) 15

A crate of fruits contains only apples, peaches and grapes. If the ratio of apples to peaches is 10 to 12 and the ratio of grapes to apples is 10 to 25, how many more peaches than grapes does the crate of fruit contain if there are 78 fruits in the crate?

A) 30
B) 24
C) 18
D) 12
E) 8

Here is how the ratio can work
T P S
5 : 6 : 2 = 13mg
10 : 12 : 4 = 26mg
15 : 18 : 6 = 39mg

P - S = 18 - 6 = 12

First simplify combine the ratios

A : P : G

10 12 --- divide this by 2

25 10 --- divide this by 5


5 6 2 -- total of 13 pieces of fruit.

Multiply all of the terms by 6 to get 78

30 36 12


36 - 12 = 24
