Amy's = A
Brown's = B

2(A - c)= B + c
= 2A - B = 3c -(1)

B - c = A + c
-2c = A - B -(2)

To find: 2B = xA - c

Solving (1) & (2)

A - B = -2c
2A - B = 3c
__________
-A = -5c
A = 5C

5C - B = -2c
B = 7c

So,
2(7c) = x(5c) - c
14c + c = x5c
c = 3

Too many needless steps would waste our time on the real day.

2 (A - c) = B + c

A + c = B - c

Add

3 A - c = 2 B
