DS/PS number theory questions

Hi

I am very weak in the DS section on number thoery(Mainly the ones where 0<x<Y and 0<Y<z is Y odd).I am also having difficulty with the PS ones on these.Princeton review suggests plugging in but for me it takes time .Is plugging in the only way for these type

Any suggestion is welcome!!!!!!!!!!!
