Profile Evaluation

by arnabghosh1982 » Wed Sep 07, 2011 1:20 am
Good morning Stacy,
I would be really grateful if you could please look at my profile and suggest what schools would suit such a score with the following profile:

Gmat score: 630 (47 Q; 29 V; 5.5 AWA)

Academics: Bachelors in Civil Engineering (3.4 GPA)form India
Masters in Construction Management from Arizona State University (3.58 GPA)

Work Ex: Have about 4.5 years of full-time work ex till now (by the time I apply i.e. probably for the 2012 session, the work ex will be about 5.5 years) in construction.
I have been working as a project manager for an American based company.

While giving my Gmat, these were the schools I sent my scores to:
1: Arizona State University (because I am an alumni)
2: Olin Business School
3: University of Notre Dame
4: NTU Singapore, and
5: NUS Singapore..

What do you think about the profile?

Thank you,
Arnab Ghosh

Dear Arnab,

While you do have some positives in your profile, like your GPAs and work experience, your GMAT score might be a potential concern. The total and verbal scores are quite low relative to other applicants with similar backgrounds. You will need to mitigate that concern with other application components like essays and recommendations. I also encourage you to identify some programs where your GMAT is at or above the average as target programs. It is possible you could gain admission to one of the 5 listed in your post with a great application package, but it is prudent to have schools where you are viewed as an above average applicant on your list.

Good luck,
Lisa
