The ISB application for 2014-15 (Class of 2016) is now open.
There have been some salient changes to the essays this year. Many will remember that last year ISB had done away with the video essay (introduced an year earlier in 2012) and introduced a third essay on one's greatest achievement. The changes this year run deeper.
- The first essay (on differentiators) which had retained its place in one form or another for the past four years has now been done away with. Instead, a new essay has been introduced. This essay asks applicants to discuss the role of innovation in creating future success through an example (either one's own or that of a colleague)
- The second essay (on career goals and how ISB fits into the applicant's plans) has pretty much retained its place, but the essay prompt has been made more detailed. The essay now explicitly asks applicants to talk about their key career decisions, the reasons behind them, and how ISB fits into their career plans
- The third essay is the biggest surprise. This now has four options, and applicants can choose any one to go with. This presents plenty of opportunity for applicants to talk about the strongest aspect of their profile rather than be forced to fit their experiences to a specific mandatory essay.
- The optional essay remains, as earlier.
