Could you share your view which of the following is correct and why

A1) Hogwartians believed that wands connect with the wizards not only at a physical but also at a mental level, and many wizards claimed to have experienced the latter by the means of the most powerful magic.

A2)Hogwartians believed that wands connect with the wizards not only at a physical but also at a mental level, and THAT many wizards claimed to have experienced the latter by the means of the most powerful magic.

B1) Visionaries believe that integrated solution shops, where different specialties converge in a coordinated way to diagnose a patient as accurately as possible, are the future of hospitals but more research is needed to determine whether this structure is more efficient than the form in which the hospitals are divided by specialties

B2) Visionaries believe that integrated solution shops, where different specialties converge in a coordinated way to diagnose a patient as accurately as possible, are the future of hospitals but THAT more research is needed to determine whether this structure is more efficient than the form in which the hospitals are divided by specialties

B2 - beleived that X and that y :

Please refer OG-12 SC #139 and this problem -

https://www.beatthegmat.com/toughest-sc- ... tml#418430

Hence B2 are correct.

For the first one the meaning is not clear to me whether

Hogwartians believed that X and Y

1. wands connect with the wizards not only at a physical but also at a mental level, and
2. many wizards claimed to have experienced the latter by the means of the most powerful magic

or

Hogwartians believed that X

1. wands connect with the wizards not only at a physical but also at a mental level, and many wizards claimed to have experienced the latter by the means of the most powerful magic

I am sure that if this SC come, then the underline portion wont be : "many wizards claimed to have experienced the latter by the means of " or "that" wont be the only difference between the two option. Can you please refer the source of the SC ?

A1) Hogwartians believed that wands connect with the wizards not only at a physical but also at a mental level, and many wizards claimed to have experienced the latter by the means of the most powerful magic. ...Here, the author is stating two different premises. No continuity is to be maintained in the latter sentence (after conjunction and). Hence, the usage of that is unnecessary.

B2) Visionaries believe that integrated solution shops, where different specialties converge in a coordinated way to diagnose a patient as accurately as possible, are the future of hospitals but THAT more research is needed to determine whether this structure is more efficient than the form in which the hospitals are divided by specialties...... (Here, author is talking about how visionaries envision integrated solution shops as the future of hospitals. After conjunction but, the same idea is continued. So, to add something to the idea stated before the conjunction, usage of THAT is correct here.)
That's why IMO, A1 and B2 are correct.
We use THAT after a conjunction to continue the idea expressed in the first part of the sentence.

Kindly correct me if i am wrong and please post OA.

I understand your perspective now. Hog believed wands connect but the clause 'many wizards claimed..' is not related to Hog's belived (if that were the case, then sentence would hv looked 'Hog belived that many wizards claimed...' - belived & claimed donot go well here. So IMO also, THAT is not required (is the OA)
- OA

But this sentence is different, "Visionaries believe that integrated solution shops are the future of hospitals but THAT more research is needed to determine whether this structure is more efficient than ..". Here both are Visionaries' believes. If we do not include THAT Sentence will appear as the clause after BUT is an independent entity (not necessarily connected with Visionaries' believes).

The same is the case with this sentence, A study done on children under the age of twelve showed that 15 percent of them experienced night terrors but that children whose parents had also experienced such terrors in childhood were more likely than other children prone to night terrors to perceive their behavior as fundamentally different from their peers'
