Perhaps the most significant medical breakthrough of the twenties, the real story behind the isolation of insulin was not revealed for 50 years.

B. The real story behind the isolation of insulin was not reavealed for over 50 years, even though it was perhaps the most significant medical breakthrough of the twenties.

C. Although the isolation of insulin was perhaps the most significant medical breakthrough of the twenties, the real story behind it was not revealed for over 50 years.

D. The real story behind the isolation of insulin was not revealed for over 50 years, although insulin was perhaps the most significant medical breakthrough of the twenties.

Can you tell me how to identify whether insulin or isolation of insulin is the most significant breakthrough? I am confused.

It refers to the subject isolation. This is important because insulin existed before. But the new thing was the isolation of insulin.

Significant breakthrough is not the real story - Significant break through is the ISOLATION OF INSULIN
hence wrong.

B. The real story behind the isolation of insulin was not reavealed for over 50 years, even though it was perhaps the most significant medical breakthrough of the twenties.

it refers to "real story behind.....". same error as A.

C. Although the isolation of insulin was perhaps the most significant medical breakthrough of the twenties, the real story behind it was not revealed for over 50 years.

Correct comparison.

D. The real story behind the isolation of insulin was not revealed for over 50 years, although insulin was perhaps the most significant medical breakthrough of the twenties.

Most significant medical break through is the ISOLATION of INSULIN and not INSULIN itself.
hence wrong.

E. Although insulin was perhaps the most significant medical breakthrough of the twenties, its isolation was not revealed for over 50 years.

isolation was not revealed.. changes meaning. also same error as D.
