Is the inequality .4 < x < .8 true?

400x < 310
1400x > 1240

Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not sufficient to answer the question asked

Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient to answer the question asked

Both statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are sufficient to answer the question asked; but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient

EACH statement ALONE is sufficient to answer the question asked

Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient to answer the question asked, and additional data specific to the problem are needed

Can I ask where you got this question? This couldn't possibly be an OG question. On any DS GMAT question, we know that the statements MUST be true. And if they're true, they can't possibly contradict each other.

With these statements, once we simplify, we get:
(1) x < 0.775
(2) x > 0.886 (approximately)

It's not possible for x to be both less than 0.775 and greater than 0.886. Was this transcribed incorrectly, perhaps? If not, this is a bad GMAT question, and I'd recommend not studying from this source.
