SC Doubt

by chaitanya.mehrotra » Sun Jul 17, 2011 3:05 am
Below are the two doubts , for this question .

a)Why is option D wrong ?

b)Is "compared to" a incorrect idiom ? .I guess it can be correct depending upon its usage In this sentence though it is indeed used wrongly.

My guess is that since we are comparing the success at Washington Bullets to directly New York Knicks thus option D is wrong .Had they compared success at success at Washington Bullets to success at New York Knicks option D would have been correct.

Hi,
'compared to' is normally fine. But here we have used 'less'. So, it should be followed by 'than' instead of 'compared to'
less X than Y is correct.
less X compared to Y is incorrect.
As you have pointed, comparison error is also there in D.
Cheers!
