Retaking GMAT

by sk_22 » Tue Aug 10, 2010 3:32 am
Hi,

I recently took GMAT and did not do well. I scored 610. My math was 46 and verbal was 28. I thought I did well in verbal. Looks like only option I have is retake the exam. Any tips on how I should study again. Please help me.

If you need help on verbal, it seems like the consensus on the board here is to use some combination of the Veritas Prep and/or Manhattan books. There are some pretty good reviews in a couple threads on this same page so that you can get more information on which volumes might help you best, but that sounds like what most people seem to like best. At least quant is going really well for you!

Hi sk_22,

Great job on quant! I recommend you take some practice tests (here is a free one from The Princeton Review: https://theprincetonreview.com/free-onli ... tests.aspx) and see what your errors are in verbal. Break down your errors into three categories: reading comp, critical reasoning, and sentence corrections; then you can work from there.

You can also check out our Verbal Workout for the GMAT, you can get the latest edition for $19 here https://www.randomhouse.com/princetonrev ... 0375764622. Since you are member of Beat the GMAT, you can take advantage of your 10% member discount and free shipping. All you have to do is type in 'BEATGMAT' in the promotional code box at check out. Discounts - my favorite! :)

Lastly, I suggest you let all of us Beat the GMATers know what your original study plan was. That way, we can be better help with recommending study tips this time around. If you have any questions, you can shoot me an email at [email protected]. Good luck!

Best Regards,
Anthony
