Any advice welcome! :)

Hi

I'm scheduled to do the GMAT on Sept 10th 2009 and I wanted to know if I should postpone my test day or go ahead as planned?

At the moment my score is at 670 on the Kaplan. I have heard that the Kaplan tests are really hard and that the real GMAT not only has easier questions but also has 10 unscored questions in each sections which makes the probability of getting a 700+ score on the real test much higher. From when I started about a month ago, my score has improved from 530 to 670 and I feel much more confident now that I did before.

My strategy for the next fortnight is to do a test about every alternative day (I hope I can get a 700+ score a couple of times) and really work up the momentum to go waltzing into the final test.

So, should I go ahead and aim to do the test on Sept 10th or should I reschedule to end of September (though I must say the dates are fast disappearing) and slow down my prep pace? Any advice is welcome! :)

Thanks.

To get the clearest idea of where you currently stand, I suggest taking a GMATprep test. It's the most accurate thing out there! Kaplan IMHO is not necessarily tougher than the real thing, I suppose it depends on personal taste. I scored 800 on a Kaplan test, but most opinions I see around the forum generally suggest that indeed Kaplan is tougher than the real thing.

I suppose your strategy is pretty solid. However, I'm not sure if you should take a test every two days, since CATs are really, really exhausting... Maybe focusing on your weaknesses is a better idea... Of course, I guess you should factor in personal taste, but if I were you, I'd practice my weak areas every day and take a CAT once every 3-4 days. But again, this all depends on your own personal approach...

I think you should consider postponing only if you see a dramatically smaller score on GMATprep. Otherwise, I say go for it: you need to get the GMAT out of the way as soon as possible in order to focus on the app process.
