My current status is verbal average at 25 and quant 31-37, How can I improve??

(1) I do one test I get this score and I do next one I get the same score as well. I summarize the mistakes and memorize them, but I still get the same score on next one, how can I improve on every chance of practice???

(2) How can I improve my quant ability??? I always stuck at 37 and cannot improve, and even after I tried to memorize all the key points, still I stuck at another questions, so where am I wrong???

(3) I think I keep do my way of practicing and exercising, it's hardly for me to improve my score in short time, I have been studying GMAT for like half year, the scores still don't improve tremedously,I don't know where am I wrong, but I do know that I do wrong about the question and I see the explannation, after that, I memorize it and do the next one, I still got wrong answers...

I mean how can I get steady score every time of doing the gmat, I am very upset right now....

(4) My gmat offical score is 410 and 380, I didn't do it right on test day but my true ability is 530, I am sure about that... However, It is hard for me to improve my score even though I go through og and prep and see the explanations on hard question or median questions, the score always at this level... It is really frastrating and stupid...I want to give up on gmat but I won't...

(5) Right now I have to find a job while practicing my gmat test, because I am out of money, and before the offical new version of gmat appears, I think I need do the test twice before that...
It is stupid if I try this for another long time pratice, I want to improve within a month to 700+, is it possible??? If it is possible or impossiblee, are there any tips which can help me???

Hi

I think you can definitely increase your score by becoming more methodical towards your preparation. Some of the tips I can suggest you are:
1. Quant - whenever you get any problem wrong and ensure that you read all relevant concepts and solve a lot of problems on that concept. Still It does not improve, try reading difficult concepts just before test.
2. Sentence Correction - Manhattan GMAT is great book. You should read the concepts similar to above strategy.
3. RCs - Active Reading is essential. Try to find at least one word wrong in each answer while eliminating the answer.

I think this should increase your score. In case you happen to use these tips. Please let me know the feedback. All the best!

How many RC questions do you make mistakes ? We will be getting 4 RCs with 13 questions totally (3 x 3, 1 x 4) Anything more than 4 you have to work on RC, two reasons
- You are making more continuous mistakes with more than one for each passage
- You won't be getting tough CR/SC questions until your RC performance improves even though you are doing well in CR/SC.

There is no way reaching beyond 30 without improvement in RC except for the fact that you nail all CR/SC questions. Once you fix problems in RC you can see your tremendous improvement.
Getting defeated is just a temporary notion, giving it up is what makes it permanent.

(1) Quant part, right now I was doing og test questions and I am about to test the rest of questions in og... my current status is 37, I think I already knew all the basics, but hard questions I am suck at... I don't how to improve immediately to 49 or 50... I think redoing the prep test questions is good enough.

(2)I read the manhanten SC books, it is not very good though... I think Manhanten forum for sc questions is very helpful, I don't know whether you have any other ideas about this. My sc ability is above average, but hard questions I think it is difficult for me to crack...I need some tips about that....I don't know whether you had some experience about that...

(3)RC I think you are probably right, I am not a native speaker, My RC is very very poor, I do 20 questions, I will get mistakes around 15... So I think active reading is right, But I can I improve immediately on RC, I think there are many takeways in RC, active reading will waste of time.. Besides how can I find one mistake wrong in the answers, Sometimes is very obvious sometimes is not...I am chinese, it is difficult for me to improve my rc since I read less...

I got lots of answers from people saying that reading wall street journals or some english newspaper will imrpove RC, but I don't have that much leisure time besides it is impossible for me to buy these materials, do you have any tips on how to crack RC in test??? I mean I just want to improve my ability on gmat, anythings else I don't want...

Check out the tips given by pemdas - you have to do this if you have to improve on RC. Try to understand the structure of the passage don't bug with details.

Try to see ron's videos on how to approach RCs - Aug 19th 2010 video will help you, check out other videos on RCs as well.

Check out this link for patanjali's attempt on how to apply ron's technique in other passages.

Initially it will be difficult to apply, but once you get used to it your performance will improve. Try to do 2/3 RCs daily.

Unless you get everything right everytime you have something to improve.

Practice 2 or 3 RCs everyday.

I did have one non-native speaker I worked with get 30% more RC accuracy overnight (literally) when he changed his strategy to:

1) Reading only the first and last sentence of each paragraph, to get an overall idea of what was coming
2) Reading the passage carefully and slowly, and taking notes
3) Tackling the questions

It did take him more time, but he got faster, and as I said, his RC accuracy JUMPED.
