2 weeks to go and lost :(

by msjleo » Thu Jul 02, 2009 10:53 am
Hi

I write the Gmat in 2 weeks. I did the GMAT prep test today and scored 620. Unfortunately I got this score with a lot of wild (not smart) guesses.

I have been doing the Princeton practice material and seems like it was way easier than the questions I saw on GMAT prep. I have completed the questions on the GMAT official guide and plan to go through them again.

Long story short, what do I do now. I feel way under prepared and am way below my target score. And am confused on what to study now (more official guide quest or more Princeton questions). Any help appreciated!

Infact even the questions in OG 11 seem much easier than what I faced on the prep test?? Have I been preparing the wrong way?

Go for the official questions! Princeton has been evaluated as too easy many times, including in our forum's official review of books. Besides, as a rule, there's no better practice out there except for the OG: questions are clear cut, answers cannot be debated...
Some people have argued that even the questions in the OG are a bit too easy as compared to what they saw on test day, particularly for quant. I can't say if that holds true for quant, since I didn't practice for that part at all. I will say that verbal questions followed the exact patterns that I saw in the OGs!
If you really feel unprepared, then reschedule. You don't want to go there and just be scared; it's going to affect every part of your experience!

There isn't much time for anything else, but given the constraint I'd say you're taking the right steps. Don't get discouraged, it will only add to your anxiety! Remember that, no matter what score you see at the end of the test, you can always retake! All the best on D-Day!
