GMAT FONT??

by arora007 » Wed Aug 04, 2010 11:00 am
I was trying speed reading techniques, and was trying to figure out which font the GMAT actually is in...
Strangely after doing some research, I figured out that mba.com does not share this information with test takers either.
(one of the people had emailed GMAC for which he got a negative reply)

So I think lets make a consensus of what is the actual font of GMAT.

Here is the GMAT font from the GMAT Prep.

I tried a word processor and tried to match the choices which seemed most similar to the GMAT Prep Font.
If none of the fonts according to you are matching then do post in which choice you consider is even more closer to the actual GMAT.

2 people have voted for Tahoma.... even I feel that its closest to Tahoma...

but this post seems to be suggestive that Tahoma or Arial are not the correct font,

https://gmatclub.com/forum/font-gmat-73971.html

The font could well be a proprietary font of the GMAC/GMAT , however I guess it would be good to have all your notepads and winword documents with Tahoma 12 fonts , atleast for a few weeks...

Whatsay??

Hi Eric,

I know this is not the suggestions & Feedback thread, but can we have BTG posts in Tahoma ?
Atleast the RC section...

Alternatively, while posting a message we have

'Font color' and 'Font size' in the palate, can we have a Font choice as well (defaulted to Tahoma 12 ofcourse) ?

Hey that is a pretty cool idea. Fonts tend to be a bit crazy for us to mess around with, but I'll pass this to David as a feature enhancement. Thanks for the suggestion!

can it be a co-incedence that Tahoma is significantly read faster than other popular fonts ?

I wanted to improve my speed reading the GMAT font.
I guess now I have got the perfect foil....

I have got the font, I believe Tahoma 12,

I have got a speed reader which can be configured

https://app.fastreaders.com/

do configure and save the settings to

WPM 2000 ( its not calibrated, its seems something like 350 words per minute and 2000 is the max calibration)
Words Displayed At One Time 2
Font Family Tahoma
Font Size 16px (I guess this is closest to the real thing)
Vertical Spacing 17px

and read new texts by selecting "New Exercise" , inserting the RC text and press go...

Alas I wish BTG, had its own speed reading tool , pre-configured to Tahoma 12.

Eric are you listening ;-) ??

It looks closest to Tahoma (good letters to look at include 'a', 'y', 't', 'g', and 'e'), but you can also try Identifont. It's a font-identifier that asks you a series of questions about the shapes of letters in order to point you in the direction of the correct font. They don't really have basic fonts on there, though, so it might not help.

Will identifying the font really help you speed-read? I'm curious.
