hi friends,
Two of my friends gave GMAT in the last 6 months or so . And both of them told me that OG questions are way too easy for the GMAT questions. Also the type of questions which appear on GMAT are different than what is discussed in OG.
One of them who got 710 (44V) told me to do 1000 SC most thoroughly. As those are the type of questions most like to appear on GMAT . I have completed OG12, done quate a many questions from kaplan and Manhattan, and around 200 from 1000SC. I find a marked difference between the questions in standard books and 1000SC. In the latter, normally the questions do not follow the standard grammatical rules which we expect like pronoun precedence,s-v agreement, idioms, clauses etc. Rather answer choices might ask u to pick differences between words like "similarity","just like" and "as" in their different answer constructions.
So I am really confused. What should is the best way 2 get prepared ?
The other guy confirms this(590 50Q/21V). He did whole of OG12,kaplan,kaplan 800,their CD,MGMAT and told me he didnt get any question of types similar to what he had done earlier .(And he did not do 1000 SC at all). He told in many cases he have seen similar sentence constructions during his practice, but the answer choices simply do not follow any standard rules he have ever read. And I know about 1 thing, if he would have got questions based on rules which we discuss, he could have nailed the verbal too.
He even got a "what roles does the bold faced parts play" questions in RC which i thought can only appear in CR.
I am really really confused guys. lets discuss this, It will be beneficial for everyone. And also if there is someone who gave the test recently,or if you know someone who gave the test recently, can you please narrate the question types you guys got.
Thanking you
regards
Sarthak
