The stimulus states that housing geckos displaces Mourning geckos by not attacking them but by preventing mourning geckos from feeding on congregating insects. And The displacement happens only in urban areas and not in rural areas. The reason is explained by D.
D states that Insects gather where there are lighted buildings. Therefore In urban areas, where there are human settlements, Gathering of insects is bound to happen, causing housing geckos to displace Mourning geckos. Whereas in rural areas far from human settlements, the gathering of insects is probably not bound to happen and hence the population of both the species is more stable.
