IMO: No option is correct, i could breakdown to D, but it seems ambiguous.

What is option E?

Request you to please put atleast GMAT Questions if not from authenticated sources. Please check the Question has only 4 options.

A:- Two sentences cannot be join by a simple",", you need a conjunction connector.

B:- such as is used for presenting examples. ( I am sure not sure but could be a reason to eliminate when you have other better option available)

C: like is used ambiguously

D:- correct "a fact modifies the whole clause before it."

A and B each have a comma splice: two complete sentences linked together by a comma. If a comma can be replaced with a period, eliminate the answer choice. Eliminate A and B.

In C, like + subject + verb (like the financial success...DEMONSTRATES) is always wrong. Like is used to compare NOUNS, not actions. Eliminate C.

In D, it is not crystal clear what fact is demonstrated by the 1992 Olympic games. Also, the Games themselves were not financially SUCCESSFUL; the Games were a financial SUCCESS. The PEOPLE ASSOCIATED WITH THE GAMES were financially SUCCESSFUL. Eliminate D.

The correct answer is E.
