If the two floors in a certain building are 9 feet apart, how many steps are there in a set of stairs that extends from the first floor to the to the second floor of the building?

I. Each step is ¾ foot high.

II. Each step is 1 foot wide.

(1) Each step is ¾ foot high implies required number of steps = 9 / (3/4) = 12
So, (1) is SUFFICIENT.

(2) The width of the step doesn't help us to find the required number of steps.
So, (2) is NOT SUFFICIENT.

The correct answer is A.
