Hello,

The first thing is to address the low GPA. The excellent GMAT will help mitigate it. One more thing I suggest is to build an "alternate transcript" - i.e., take a relevant course or two and earn an A. This step will provide concrete evidence that you can excel in an academic environment. If you are planning to apply this admissions cycle, you won't have time to complete the course(s) before you apply. However, you can start the courses, describe this step in an optional essay and include any grades to date (hopefully you'll have some homework and/or exams with A), and state that you will supply the transcript upon completion. Not only will this effort demonstrate academic capability; it also will demonstrate commitment to the MBA process and self-awareness of your own weaknesses and ability to address them forthrightly.

As far as other steps to improve your profile, I note the IT background. This can be a drawback -- first, there are many applicants with this background and it's quite over-represented in the applicant pool, and second, it doesn't show business exposure/experience. I suggest gaining as much business experience (or at least interface) and leadership as possible. Also, I can't tell whether you've excelled at work compared to accomplished peers -- to be competitive for the programs you mention you should show significant impact and leadership, regardless of your work function. Building these factors up as much as possible will help.

Amit,

The types of courses that would be beneficial depend on your transcript and your overall strengths and weaknesses. If you took calculus and statistics already but did NOT do well in undergrad, these would be good topics to start with. If you took them and did well, consider microeconimics and/or accounting. Courses in business communications and/or global issues would also be options if you've taken all of the above already with good grades --
