Profile Evaluation

by chadbadmoon » Sat Sep 26, 2009 11:06 am
Hi, can you evalute my profile?

Nationality: Italian
GMAT: M
Age: 27
GMAT: Expected 680/700 (47-49Q/ 36-38V)
TOEFL: 101 (L:28/R:27/S:22/W:24)
Bachelor of Engineering (Telecommunications) : 110/110 (Perferct record)
Master in Computer Engineering (candidate): GPA: 95%

Work experience:

2 years in Ferrari - Formula 1 Racing team. (software development for electronics on the racing car)
2 years as IT project manager in a small italian IT company (early promoted from Web Engineer)
6 Months as videogame & software tester for an international firm in Glasgow, Scotland.
1 year as a freelance software engineer.

Part-time high school teacher (Computer Science and Electronics)
Private Tutoring (Maths and Physics for high school students, computer programming for college students)

Sport: kickboxing Italian Champion - fighter and instructor.

Goals:
My areas of interest are Risks, Operations, and General Management.
I would customize my MBA Curriculum choosing elective coourses such as Negotiation Analysis and Behavior, Leadership, Power and Influence.
I would like to work for few years as a strategic consultant and then find a way to get an executive position.
Taking advantage of my strong infrmation & communication technology background I would like to become the CIO of an IT firm.

Full-time MBA programs I like the most:

HARVARD
COLUMBIA
STANFORD
WHARTON

UCLA
NYU
BOOTH
MIT

LONDON
INSEAD
IMD

Questions:
1. For which of these schools I have a shot?
2. What are the main weaknesses in my profile? What can I do to for them?
4. What is the program that best fits my profile? Why?
3. Do you have any other suggestion?

Thank you a lot!

Assuming your GMAT ends up as anticipated, here are my answers to your questions:
1) I think you have a shot at all the programs you are consider. Obviously the first 3 are the hardest, but you do have shot at all of them. (Make sure that your TOEFL is above the minimum for all programs.)
2) Fairly light community service. Get involved.
4) The schools you have listed are excellent choices considering your goals and qualifications. You may also want to consider Tuck and Kellogg. They are strong general management programs.
3. Not at the moment. I think you have a competitive candidacy.

Best,
Linda
