Hello Everyone,

I took my second GMAT Exam yesterday and improved from 550 to 690 Q49/V35.

Profile:

Female, age 24 from Georgia (Eastern European Country).
Graduated from Georgia State University (GSU), Atlanta, US, GPA 3.7.
Extra Curricular activities: Was a social chair of the Georgian Student association at GSU and then became a president of the same association.

Went back to home country and have a 3.5 year experience in working with Georgian (I mean country Georgia) leading Banks.

2.5 years at Bank of Georgia (LSE listed company) as a Investor relations coordinator. Participated in the premium listing deal, of the Bank, on LSE.
1 year at Bank Republic Societe general Group. Started as a corporate business analyst and after 6 months was promoted as a senior corporate business analyst working solely on large corporate deals.
Post MBA goal is private equity.

I am wondering if I have chances at Stanford, Yale, Booth or Duke. Or do I need to retake my GMAT?

Thanks in advance

Mariam

Hi Mariam,

Congratulations on your scores. You have done remarkably well. Coming straight to the point, I would suggest you to target some realistic b-schools like Darden, Haas, Duke, Tepper, McCombs & Cornell. As the avg. GMAT range of these schools fall between 630-740, you have fair probability of being selected & given admission. You can also try your chances in b-schools by clicking https://www.general-ed.com/chances-of-bschool

Rather than preparing & re-taking the GMAT, I would specifically suggest you to concentrate & focus on your application essays & interviews, where you can show your leadership qualities & accomplishments. So, it is always advisable to take the assistance of proficient consultants who can work closely with you & review your essays to convert your chances of application to admission.

Hope, I am able to solve your queries. Let me know if you any other concern.

Regards,
Yash

Hi cikvin,

Your post MBA career goal - PE, is one of the hardest to crack after B-schools. Those who successfully recruit in this industry typically have prior experience in VC/ PE, IB, or consulting. You worked in the banking industry but was your work related to scouting potential investee companies for your bank or doing due-diligence for equity stake in the target companies. The point is if you do not have the 'lineage', your goal may sound difficult to achieve to the adcom.

Thank you for your reply. More precisely I want to continue my career in PE, in emerging markets, because I have worked with emerging market bank who is the first bank from CIS countries listed on premium segment on LSE and I was the part of the listing deal, I was one of the leaders of the team who was preparing due diligence materials for DLA piper and ING. Now I am working in corporate banking and see that there is huge potential in emerging market firms but this potential is lost because of lack of management skills and "old fashioned" management style. This is my primary motive to continue in PE. Do u think that it is good enough? or should I stop my application process for this year and explore more opportunities?
