GMAT Retake

by champwix » Tue Mar 05, 2013 8:49 am
Hi All,
I am retaking GMAT for more improvement. The last time I took GMAT in Dec'2012, I got to know my weak areas are CR and RC. Particularly in CR, I was not able to identify the pieces/structure of information properly. So, I know where I have to put my efforts. I know certainly that I can improve upto 640-650, as I was scored in couple of my prac tests.

GMAT Scores -
13 Dec'2010 - 510 (Q42 / V19) >> Overall - 510 / 37%, AWA - 4.5 (37%ile)
10 Dec'2012 - 600 (Q47 / V27) >> Overall - 600 / 62%, AWA - 6/6 (90%ile)

Materials Available -
Knewton Online Course. (20 sessions - 1 to 1n1/2 hr each)
MGMAT SC/CR guides.
GMAT Prep Ques Bank (494Ques) Full version
OG 13.

Since I have scheduled my exam on 15th April, I have 40 days in hand. Accordingly, I am preparing out my plan to study 3hrs daily, weekend 6-8 hrs and a practice test.
I want to know whether shall I work on the Official GMAT ques only OR Shall I work on the sessions from Knewton and the relative home-works. I dont want to get too much exhausted, so I want to know what strategy would be feasible?
Atleast I want to come up with the 640-650, where I left last time in my prac's and be consistent on that score. In other way, I have to keep Quant constant and show improvement particularly on the Verbal by 6-7 points.
Also, I want to know - does it usually take time to get back on the road after leaving GMAT studies for almost 3 months. How much time it would generally take to get back?

Thank you!!

In last 10 days of study, I covered my weak sections - CR and RC. I feel a bit confident on those than I was earlier, as I solved some prac tests.
I also tried to be in touch with Quant and SC with some prac ques here and there. Here, I see a bit inconsistency particularly with SC that sometimes demoralizes, since SC is one of my strongest areas.
Moreover, since its been 3 months that I sat down for a 4 hours marathon, I am unsure how its going to be on full-length. So, planning to take tests every weekend going forward.
My question is - Though I am practicing only ques, I do not have a plan to study for the coming 30 days. I am even unable to put forward a strategy - whether I should revise all theories (looking at the time constraints) or just keep on practicing questions?
Unless I get strategized and organized, I don't feel I am in rhythm and good shape. What should be my plan?

Is 30 days enough to get consistency only practicing ques (of course I understand the importance of reviewing both correct and incorrect answers)? :)

Thank you!!
