Is the figure in question #20 correct?

The answer suggests that...

|-2| < |2|

If the answer in the book is correct, could someone please explain why :lol:

It can only be possible , if D and E are a little to the left of 1 and 2. which mean that their values are less than 1 and 2 respectively.

That's a misprint in some versions of the 11th edition. Newer printings fix the error (E is supposed to be a bit less than 2). If your version has the misprint, you will probably want to download the pdf file with all of the corrections:
