This SC is based on two rules that are fairly easy to spot:

1) Subject-Verb agreement: The subject of this SC is "ONE", so we need the verbs "HAS" and "ASSUMES"

2) Modification: the correct word to describe the "wide variety of situations" is "SURPRISINGLY"
