P(S) is only Spanish

P(F)+P(S)+P(F and S) = 300
P(S) =100

P (F and S) =?

first statement:
P(S) + P(F and S) = 240
Also, We know that P(S)=100
Hence, P(F and S) = 140
SUFFICIENT

Second Statement:
P(S)+P(F and S) = 240
Same equation as above.
Hence Sufficient.

Let f students study French only and b study both French and Spanish.

(1) Students who study French only = 60
We are given that students who study Spanish only = 100
Total students = 300
Therefore, 300 = f + b + 100 implies 300 = 60 + b + 100 implies b = 300 - 160 = 140

So, (1) is SUFFICIENT.

(2) Given b + 100 = 240 implies b = 240 - 100 = 140
So, (2) is SUFFICIENT.

The correct answer is (D).
