Dear gmat82,

I think you have put together an appropriate list for you based on your profile. Most of these schools are probably a moderate or ambitious choice with your current GMAT score of 660. Your GMAT will be on the low side for the international applicant pool, but it looks like your GPA and work experience could be above average. Ideally, it would be good for you to improve your GMAT to the 680-720 range.

If you do retake the test, just be sure to have the scores sent to your target schools. Likewise, if you decide to submit your applications prior to retaking the test, it would be helpful for the schools to know you plan to retake the exam and when the test date is. Otherwise, they will move forward with the evaluation using your highest score to date.

Best of luck,
Lisa

Hi Lisa,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
Please suggest some safe schools for me.
Also,Are following schools safe:-
1.Penn state-Smeal
2.Michigan Broad
3.Boston University

If I retake the test(before say R1 deadline) but after submission of application, and then I notify schools whom I had not added in GMAT 5-school list, will the new score be considered then? For those whom I could not notify in any way, they will assume my last score as final.Am I right here?

Thanks.

Dear gmat82,

In order for your application to be complete, the schools must receive an official GMAT score report. If you did not include a school on the list when you took the exam, then you need to order the report. A school will only consider a score they have the official score report for and you must direct the testing service to send the score report to a school. If a school allows your application to be evaluated with a copy of the unofficial score report, then the school will either hold your decision until the official report is received or reserve the right to withdraw an offer of admission if you do not provide an official report.

As for naming schools, I generally do not do that because 1) I do not have enough information and 2) school choice is a personal decision. You need to identify programs that offer you what you are looking for in terms of curriculum and career opportunities. If you are simply picking schools off a list, then you not only put yourself at a disadvantage in the application process but will also fail to receive all of the benefits of business school. Safety schools should usually have an average GMAT, GPA, and work experience at or below your numbers.

Best of luck,
Lisa
