why this sentnce is correct?

*Last year, land values in the most parts of the pinelands rose almost as fast as, and in some parts even faster than, those outside the pinelands.

I do not know how this sentence works. can anyone
explain how this sentence works? To be specific,
what are subject and verb after conjuction 'And'?
How parallelism works?

In parallel comparison two similar objects must be compared. In this case, the value of land in a particular region is compared with the land outside it.

The trick is to simplify the sentence by eliminating 'almost as fast as, and in some parts even', so that the sentence reads, 'Last year, land values in the most parts of the pinelands rose faster than, those outside the pinelands.'

Now it becomes simple to identify which objects are compared. "Those" is the pronoun, in absence of which the sentence would be comparing land value to pinelands , which is incorrect.

You can read the sentence with only the core and leave all the modifiers stuff aside ...

"Last year land values in Pineland rose faster than those outside pineland"

The above sentence is just the core. Now if you check the original sentence 'the most part of" is a adjective describing pineland "almost as fast as" is another adjective signifying the rate of growth and "and in some part even faster than" is another adjective comparing the rate of growth.

So if you can break the sentence into its core and see if it is logical and grammatically correct, then it is right.
