"Where" vs "In which"

"Where" vs "In which"

Hi,

Recently I read in one of the SC guides that:

Where cannot modify "metaphorical" place, such as condition, situation, case, circumstances, or arrangement. In these cases, in which is used rather than where.

Please throw some light on this.

That's correct; "Where" modifies physical location.
