if three brothers had 169 apples which they shared in the ratio of 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, how many apples did each receive?show your work?

since division is in the ratio 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 taking ratio coeff x
(1/2)(x) + (1/3)x +(1/4)x=169
(13/12)x=169
dividing both sides by 13,
x=13*12=156
so the brothers got 78, 52 and 39 apples
