Please evaluate my profile

Background:
29 year old Asian-American male

Undergrad:
B.S. in Computer Science from Rutgers University
2.9 GPA

GMAT:
740, 47Q, 45V. AWA unknown since I just took it last week.

Work Experience:
8 years as a software developer at a large pharmaceutical company


I'm hesitant to leave the metro Atlanta area so what are my chances at the both the full-time and evening programs at Emory and Georgia Tech?

If I were to look nationwide, what range of program should I be looking at?

Also, it has been suggested to me that such a high GMAT score may put me in consideration for scholarships. Is that really a reasonable expectation for me?

Dear Tony,

You have many good options in the Atlanta area, so I do think you can stay there if you wish to do so. From the information posted, I think the foundation is there for a strong application to both Emory and Georgia Tech. Outside of Atlanta, I think you are viable for most US programs in the top 40. However, once you get into the top 10-15, then it becomes more competitive and your application will have to distinguish you from others in the applicant pool. Finally, there are many aspects of your profile that might gain you scholarship dollars. The best way to leverage your profile for scholarships is to apply in the first round at your target schools.
