Hi,

I am working in Indian for the last three years across banking and private equity after graduating from the leading business undergrad program in the country. Wanted a quick assesment of my profile for a reasonable shot at H/S/W/C/LBS for the 2013-15 session.

Brief Profile:
  • Pre-MBA associate in the 6 member India team at one of the leading PE firms globally in India. Handling portfolio work as well as deals with significant reponsibilities

Hired as the only undergrad analyst at a leading global investment bank at their India team in 2010 from E&Y's M&A team.

Worked with MPs and MLAs on public policy to attract investments in India. Did a pro-bono project for Ministry of Social Justice allowing the Govt. to set up an entrepreneurship competition for disabled in India - 6-8 start-ups are getting funded by this model every year

Graduated from the leading business undergrad program in India. Led the college debate team, social service team and the annual college festival/students union
Problem Area:
  • GPA is not available but my score falls in first division with poor scores in quantitative subjects. The problem is that I will be in the bottom quartile in college but around 65th percentile in the university. Which measure is applicable? Does this dent my application significantly?
How to solve this problem? Showing that IB & PE require extensive math based analysis,
  • Extension programs in math/statistics, A diploma in business laws (keenly interested in the field), language courses, 740+ GMAT score are some of the options which people have suggested me.

Hi vaibhavsingh,

A low GPA will not be looked at favorably, but there are ways to address this. I recommend you read this case study of one candidate who did so: https://www.stacyblackman.com/comprehens ... ies/case5/

Additionally, I am not sure how many years of work experience you have, but as you progress in your career, admissions teams focus more on your work experience than your undergraduate record.

Cheers,

Conrad and the Stacy Blackman Team
