Hi Jon.
Im Jinesh
Im a 23 years old, male,Indian ,living in India.
I have joined Beat The GMAT website a week or 2 ago. I have been reading threads, forums on
this site and how you have been so helpful and valuable in advising people with regards to their queries .
I have decided to take GMAT, but before that I want know what if im suitable or what
kind of qualities I should posses in order to make it to the top institutes
Academic profile:
School(Xth):
-Scored 80% (Considered good here in India)
-Was Head Boy of the school during the final year.
-Was consistently in top-5 students in my class with respect to the marks scored
-Participated in many sporting events and won in few.
High School (XIIth)
- Scored 83 %,was ranked 1st in my college.
Graduation:
-Completed graduation in the field of Engineering with Electronics and Telecommunication as my
specialization from University of Pune (One of the best universities in India)
- Scored first-class(60% and above) throughout my graduation which is considered good for University of Pune
(FYI University toppers scored around 75%)
- Participated in various competition throughout my graduation days and won in few of them.
- Published my final year project as a Paper with IEEE and presented it at an International conference
(Highlight of my career so far)
- Also published this paper with IJFCC
-Became a member of the IETE,India.
Extra Curricular activities:
- Was a member of the World Malayalee council.
- I am member of the Lions club of Pune,Sapphire
- Im a volunteer of a NGO called Bhumi that educates underprivileged kids
Work Experience :
This is my main concern.
I completed graduation in August 2012. I was picked up one of the biggest software companies
as a system engineer. But i gave it a lot of thought and decided that i would not join them,
reason being the lack of interest in the software field. During my engineering days I realized that
I have an inclination towards the management field. So after I completed graduation I took a decision
to pursue post graduation in management. I started preparing for MBA entrance exams here in India
that happens in the month of October-december 2013 . I scored decently in those exams
but not good enough to get into the top colleges here in India.
Currently im in the lookout for a good job
My question is this:
I want to pursue MBA from a top B-school outside of India. Im hoping to pursue it 2 - 3 yrs
down the line after a gain some good work experience all the while preparing for the GMAT and
appearing for it each year. But Im bit apprehensive of the fact that the 1 and a half yr gap after
I completed graduation(preparing fpt the MBA entrance exams) will affect my chances of getting
admission into the top institutes; plus, what are the qualities i need to imbibe in me in the coming years to equip myself for the challenge ahead.
As far as MBA goes,Im interested in Human Resources,Operations, finance in
the decreasing order.
I am DETERMINED......but i need some guidance, and im counting on you.
I really hope you could help me out with this situation.
Thanks in advance,
Jinesh
