If you feel like you are strong in the basics, then perhaps you won't need to spend much time on the PR lessons. PR does however feature 4 good computer-based practice tests, which could be valuable to you.

In terms of practice problems--I think you are right to practice mostly from OG.

You have some great practice test resources in your list. Just stick to what you have--if you need some more practice tests then purchase PR.

Best of luck!

by aim-wsc » Thu Jan 11, 2007 10:59 pm
yeah practise tests help a lot.

take as many as you can, since you have more than two months in your hand and you are done with basics.
add PR too.

My study plan.

by aim-wsc » Fri Jan 12, 2007 8:02 pm
OK
finally I have made a systematic plan for my GMAT study strategy

Sudy plan:

1. CAT tests i would be taking during my prepartaion:

POWER Prep : I II
GMAT Prep : I II
PRINCETON : I II III IV
KAPLAN : I II III IV

(earlier i decided to purchase 800score tests but then i got Kaplan...)

2. Total time spend: 6.5 hours
3. Total days : 31 days with some rest days excluded.

4. Books/materials i ll be using for prep:
Kaplan 800
OG 11
OG 10
1000 SC (100 % )
1000 CR (~30-50% )

5. Day to day study plan (splits):

For Day One to twenty:
1000 SC: 50 problems a day : spend 1 hour for solving them & 1 hour for analysing them

For Day one to twelve
1000 CR: ~350 problems in 12 days;
30 problems a day : spend 1 hour for solving them & 30 mins for analysing them

FOr Day thirteen to twenty
RC reference any available source 3000 RC too in six day
: five passages a day: 40 min for solving and 30 mins for analysing

That makes 2 hrs for SC from 1-20 day
and 1.5 hrs of CR & RC for 1-12 & 13-20 day
Total" 3.5 hours of prep.

PLUS 3 HOURS OF STUDY WITH BOOKS

from day one to day ten Kaplan 800
from day five to day ten OG 10
from day ten to day twenty OG 11 exclusive 8)

GMAT CAT tests will be practised during prep from day four till day thirty 8)

[note that : the plan is made exclusively for myself considering my needs my weaknesses and strength i wont guarantee if it would suit you ]

you must have observed that i don t have any branded GMAT book except Kaplan 800.

I ll go for it with these materials.

but now i am thinking of a 1000SC. is it worth doing all items from that document?

Any experienced person.... Please help.

I know a guy who s solved all 1000 SC problems ...i ll meet him in
Mumbai GMAT meet

Anyway... i have been checking that document from quite some time... have solved many of the problems... ( will post solution on the blog www.thousand.blocked )
but my question is it worth the time ?

instead i m thinking of reading a school grammar book...
yeah thats right...

Any suggestions?

Hi,

Thanks for ur suggestions .........whats the source of 1000 series....

I am done with OG 11, Official Verbal and Quant books.

So want to add one more book....which is better Kaplan or Princeton....I have some inclination for Princeton as people say its Verbal section is good.....Any comments.......

I'll answer your question. :)

I think that you would be better served focusing your studies around OG. It doesn't hurt to repeat the book if you get to that point.

The 1000 SC document is certainly good practice, but the problem is that we can't verify the source of those questions--they may not actually reflect the real GMAT accurately.

Since we know that OG features actual GMAT questions, it makes the most sense to study those primarily to get a sense of the types of questions, topics, and patterns.

I hope that helps!
